"I needed a tow back home on January first, I had a flat tire in Menlo Park and needed a tow back home and there was almost no open businesses which would have a tire replacement for my car, as the tire was no longer usable due to a cut on the sidewall of the tire, which meant it could not be fixed but needed replacement. I stopped at the nearest gas station when I got a warning of low tire pressure, and the gas station was closed for the day. The tire is a run flat and even though I could have made it back, it could have been dangerous to try driving back the 20 miles back home. The policy states that State Farm will pay to take me to the nearest repair facility, but it doesn't say anything about the facility being open and or having the tire replacement on hand. It took me 3 days to get new tires from Tire Rack and I have scheduled an appointment to have them replaced ASAP. I was charged $75 dollars for 10 miles of the tow back home and I appreciate the prompt and safe delivery of the car to my house, but since there was almost nothing open due to being January 1st, I would have thought the tow would have been included in my policy roadside towing. The tow truck was prompt, it was good service, but I was not expecting to be charged for getting me back home on my roadside assistance towing insurance. I guess that Holidays and usual work hours are not taken into consideration when calculating what the nearest repair facility is. After getting a call from Alexandra, she will investigate getting me a refund for my cost of the tow.. but either way, I believe this is a good way to finalize the tow charge since there was almost nothing open on the 1st of January, so there was no available tire shops to replace the tire. I want to thank Alexandra and her team for following up on this small issue."
